Over the weekend, Soul Asylum’s front man Dave Pirner gathered with his peers including Butch Walker, Mark Hudson, Sarah Hudson, Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman for the 12th annual ASCAP “I Create Music” Expo at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles.
Moderated by Billboard senior writer Melinda Newman, the Expo provided an inside look at songwriting for musicians, producers and composers.
“I have a good pile about this high,” said Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum while lifting his hand to just above his waist. “And I have a shit pile this high,” he said raising his hand high above his head. “I have to fill up this pile until something good ends up over in that pile — let’s just say I have a lot of works in progress.”
