From its sleek red clean packaging to the ten new and rare tracks, the third installment of the Shanti Music Project is a beautifully crafted disc of solid music.
Chapter three in this project gives some of the best bands on the independent music scene today with The Black Heart Procession, Sigur Ros, Arab Strap, Califone and my personal new favorite band Kinski.
All five bands deliver two tracks and they deliver it well on this disc. The songs intersect almost fitting as one with each group that allows to the listener to be taken in and float along a personal journey filled with lush musical landscapes.
The music is not only the luminous attribute to this disc. A portion of the proceeds go to Shanti Project of San Francisco, which provide education, practical assistance, and emotional support to people in need.
The Shanti Project has been at the head of a nationwide growing cause to improve the quality of life for persons living with life-threatening or chronic illnesses.
I tip my hat to all five bands and Badman Records for bringing together wonderful music for an even better cause.
