Whiplash Splash is a collection of infectious, upbeat punk rock with The Dollyrots typical fizzy twist to it. From the opening fun and frantic “I Do” through to a spiky cover of Karina & The Waves “Walking On Sunshine” to finish off the album, this record is an album to put smiles on the faces of listeners everywhere. – Hard Rock Haven.
Punk rock duo the Dollyrots are set to release their sixth studio album Whiplash Splash on March 24. The best album of 2017 so far has been The Dollyrots’ Whiplash Splash. As far as I’m concerned, this is the best band currently on the LA circuit—a husband-and-wife pairing (plus a drummer) that plays super-catchy, energetic, wild and raucous punk rock. The chemistry between Kelly Ogden and Luis Cabezas is tangible, and translates wonderfully to the stunning songs that they write—Callwood at the Cooler
Whiplash Splash is filled with infectious lyrics, melodic guitar riffs, irresistible hooks, punked-out woah-ohs & percussion. The new album also marks the addition of their daughter Daisy Moon to their entourage that already includes 3-year-old son River and tour dog Quito. With production by the band and longtime Producer John Fields [All Time Low, Jimmy Eat World] The Dollyrots’ signature spirit shines through on every track.
The band’s 2016 live album/DVD Family Vacation: Live in Los Angeles debuted at #15 on Billboard’s Heatseekers album chart and Barefoot And Pregnant garnered their first chart appearance peaking at #7 on Billboard’s Heatseekers. Both chart appearances were preceded by highly successful crowdsourcing campaigns through PledgeMusic. This followed the group’s 2012’s self-titled LP, two albums on Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records, and a 2004 debut through the venerable Lookout!/Panic Button Records.
The Dollyrots plan to tour in support of the album throughout 2017 with son & daughter River and Daisy in tow. The first run of dates kick off on March 16 in Chicago and finishes off with two shows in the band’s Southern California home base.
All dates will feature support by friends The Two Tens, whose debut album VOLUME is out now on CD and digital formats via Ugly Sugar Records and on vinyl via Man Della Records.
