Innocent Words Presents IW10 with When Particles Collide

TEN: Starting in 2013, each Friday, Innocent Words started shining the spotlight directly on up and coming artists/bands with 10 questions we like to call IW10.

Hometown:
Bangor, Maine

Members and Instruments:
Chris M. Viner: Drums/Vocals
Sasha G. Alcott: Guitar Vocals

Short Bio (in your own words):
In March of 2010 Sasha and Chris met when they were both cast in a Bangor, Maine production of “Hedwig and The Angry Inch.” Sasha played guitar and Chris played drums. They fell in love with playing together and later just plain old fell in love. In January of 2011 They played their first official show as When Particles Collide and since then have been on a non-stop rock & roll adventure. Since the summer of 2012 When Particles Collide have been touring the country for 9-14 weeks per year and playing consistently across New England the other weeks. All told the duo racks up between 70-100 shows per year. Starting in the summer of 2017 they will be touring full time. They have released seven sets of recordings, pressed two full length vinyl records and made friends and fans and eaten tacos and pizza all across the country. They’ve won a few awards and both people who get paid to write and those that don’t, have said some nice things about us.

What was the first live concert you ever went to?

Sasha: Steve Miller, don’t ask.
Chris: 311, can I change my answer?

What is your funniest or worst tour experience?
Sasha: In Alabama, our first time through Birmingham, one of the audience members was so enthused that he ran up on stage during the ending of our last song, kneeled in front of me and played my guitar with his teeth.
Chris: It was in Ohio. There was a guitar player and a sock. Only a sock. You decide if it was the funniest or worst.

What THREE things are a must have when you go on tour or play a show?
Sasha: Peanut Butter, an inflatable mattress, ear plugs. In that order.
Chris: Laptop, Harry Potter movies, headphones. Gotta fall asleep somehow.

What was the first record you ever purchased?
Sasha: Carole King ‘Tapestry’
Chris: Ace of Base ‘The Sign’

If you had to record an EP of covers, which FIVE songs/artist would make the cut?

Mad Anthony “Whisper”
Bonnie Raitt “Been Too Long and the Fair”
Volcano Rabbit “Our Boy Looks Good on the Tube”
The Shanks “Feel the Holes”
Chamillionaire “Ridin’ Dirty”

What’s your preferred music format – vinyl, CD, digital, cassette – and why?
Vinyl or streaming. Records sound better and we don’t have a cd player in the van.

What is your website and do you have a music video to share?
