Short Bio (in your own words):
Hi, I’m Drew. I’m the lead singer/synth player/songwriter from Onsen. I was incubated in an intergalactic space vortex. It squirted me out at birth to rise out of the primordial ocean on a giant piece of sea lettuce and wash ashore on a desert island beach. There with only coconut fibers and sea turtle shells, I built the first guitar. Having invented song, I spent centuries developing the sound ‘om.’ Discovered by reptilian xenophobes (and realizing I was actually on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch), I was forced a sea on a simple ivory raft, accompanied by Cher from “Clueless.” Cher’s expert navigation and wind harvesting brought us safely to land at what would later become Marina Del Rey, CA. There I fought the local population for the right to hula-hoop wherever I chose. Saved by local artists Sara Bright and Andy Byers from retaliation, I began work on my grand opus, ‘Earthquake Weather.’ After years of toil, it is now out on Cosmic Dreamer Music, a collective made up mostly of angels and models. Every album has been individually blessed by a high priest/ess. Thank you. Oh, I also played high school soccer.

What was the first live concert you ever went to?Onsen
Aretha Franklin. She killed it wearing a triangular sequined robe.

What is your funniest or worst tour experience?
I’ve honestly been super lucky to have wonderful/largely unfunny live experiences. But booking shows is weirdly Sisyphean and makes me want to nap. So bookers holler at me: I did once play a show in an office snack room. Everyone there was lovely but playing next to a coke machine is a futile task. You’ll never measure up.

What THREE things are a must have when you go on tour or play a show?
1. Prophet 12
2. Imogen Heap’s hand stylist
3. Macramé muumuu by Yayoi Kusama

What was the first record you ever purchased?
Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’ and Bjork ‘Post.’

If you had to record an EP of covers, which FIVE songs/artist would make the cut?
Robyn “Dancing On My Own”
Sufjan Stevens “The Wasp of the Palisades”
Bonnie Raitt “I Can’t Make You Love Me”
Twin Shadow “The One”
Beach Boys “Don’t Worry Baby”

What’s your preferred music format – vinyl, CD, digital,
cassette – and why?
I like vinyl and digital best. Vinyl sounds the richest and most inviting and digital is the most universally accessible.

What is your website and do you have a music video to share?
We’ve shot three music videos and they will be out soon!
