TEN: Starting in 2013, each Friday, Innocent Words started shining the spotlight directly on up and coming artists/bands with 10 questions we like to call IW10.
Members & Instruments?
Philip: guitar and vocal
Peter played on the records but he’s taking time out the band for a while now.
Short Bio (in your own words)
Started in a bedroom in early 2015, got a little out of control mid 2015 and then became real in 2016. We’re signed to U.S. Label bleeding records and so far we have released two EPs (one tape and one 7″) with two more to come in 2016. I guess we are a post punk band of sorts. It’s quite gloomy.
What was the first live concert you went to?
For me (Philip) it was Pantera! I was a big metalhead in my early teens and I went with my dad. It’s was great!
What is your funniest or worst tour experience?
I’ve been on lots of tours with other bands but oh well goodbye played France last year and that was cool. We played an amazing house show in an old gatehouse. It was my first ever house show and that was very memorable. All tours are funny, even some of the worst moments I look back on and laugh.
Worst, hmm, probably being sick on tour or doing a 16 hour drive and blowing a tire. There’s so many! Actually, one time I helped push a van onto a ferry that was a bit crap. I’ve been involved in many van breakdowns. I’m a little cursed really! Oh but the worst…I was on the train to Russia and we stopped at passport control in the middle of a forest. I needed the toilet and they locked all toilets as they checked everyone and searched our instruments. That was the longest hour of my life I tell you but like I say I look back on all that quite fondly now.
What three things are a must have when you go on tour or play a show?
A show – pizza, beer and gin.
Tour – iPod, spare underwear and face wipes!
What was the first record you ever purchased?
Nirvana ‘In Utereo’
If you had to record an EP of covers, which five songs / artist would make the cut?
Artists would be… Iron Maiden; The Cure; Dignan Porch; Imperial March from “Star Wars;” OMD (I started doing one of their tracks but failed).
What’s your preferred music format, vinyl, CD, digital, cassette, and why?
Vinyl with a download code. I love how much of an ‘event’ vinyl is. The big art work, the little crackle, the sound. I’ve got nothing against CDs or tapes, they’re great too I just prefer vinyl packaging. However It bugs me when an LP also states that it comes with a ‘free download code’! Free!!? really!? This just cost me £20/30 and the least you can do is let me put it on my iPod. But yeah, vinyl.
