Short Bio (in your own words):
I grew up in a very musical family, from the time I started singing at the age of six I knew music was what I wanted to do. I wrote my first song at the age of 11 (“Sunshine”) and the writing continued from there. After high school I knew I needed to grow more and if I really wanted to pursue my music career I would need to move, which brought me to Austin, TX.
What was the first live concert you ever went to?
Growing up in a smaller town, we didn’t really get a lot of major bands coming through. When I moved to Bend I went to my first concert which was Jack Johnson.
What is your funniest or worst tour experience?
Well, there’s always something funny happening on the road, obviously there’s some things you just can’t talk about! Just before I signed to my label Cutmore Records, they asked me to play at a big music festival in Dubai so they could see if I was the Real Thing!!
of course, I said yes. So off I went, once I arrived I was so focused on playing my show perfectly that I completely forgot to do any research on the actual festival itself, which turned out to be a huge deal, so on the night of my show I turn up and begin my show, halfway through I realise there’s like 20,000 people there, and I’m thinking, I cannot believe how many people have come to see me play!!! Then after the show I realise there’s this little rock band headlining called Deep Purple. Well that brought me back down to earth. Let’s hope when I’m their age I can command such a big crowd.
What THREE things are a must have when you go on tour or play a show?
1. My guitar
2. No hangover
3. A TopoChico (best mineral water you will ever have)
What was the first record you ever purchased?
Haha…. Monica’s first album ‘Miss Thang.’
If you had to record an EP of covers, which FIVE songs/artist would make the cut?
1. “Blackbird” by the Beatles
2. “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor
3. “Soon We Will Be Found” by Sia
4. “HeartBreaker” by MSTRKFT & John Legend
5. “It Hurt So Bad” by Susan Tedeschi
What’s your preferred music format – vinyl, CD, digital, cassette – and why?
Let’s bring back 8 tracks… I love the 80’s Music.
