I wanna say Allentown, PA, but at this point I’ve lived in New York City for a longer period of time and I don’t have any family left in PA. I was also born in Melrose, MA. I’m a mess!
Members and Instruments:
I play pretty much everything except live drums. My friend Lou Waxman provides those as well as any horn parts. On the new record he sings lead vocals on three or four of the songs. I always try to use other friends whenever it feels right.
Short Bio (in your own words):
Born in 1987. Spent my early childhood in a blue collar town. My father was a plumber. Eventually my parents got divorced and my mom remarried an engineer and we moved to Pennsylvania. Went to college in Philly. Got a guitar when I was 20. Moved to New York City after graduation. And here I am at age 30 – married and living in BK.
What is your funniest or worst tour experience?
I’ve never toured actually. Only played live like five times. I’m too neurotic and don’t have time a form a proper live band. I did recently play two songs in Greece with my father-in-law for a few hundred drunk tourists. That was funny to me. I had a backing band of like 10 people!
What THREE things are a must have when you go on tour or play a show?
A capo, guitar, mic. NOTHING ELSE.
What was the first record you ever purchased?
Hanson – the one with “Mmm Bop” on it.
If you had to record an EP of covers, which FIVE songs/artist would make the cut?
(Sandy) Alex G, Simon & Garfunkel, the Magnetic Fields, Hannah Diamond, Jim Croce
What’s your preferred music format – vinyl, CD, digital, cassette – and why?
I’m a digital listener for sure. I just like feeling organized and in control. I’m a big DropBox boy. But if money, time and space weren’t an issue of course vinyl is the best.
