Innocent Words Exclusive Premiere: Matt North’s “Cronkite and Cosell” Single and Video

mattnorthSongwriter/drummer Matt North is a visionary. Yeah, I said it and it’s about time he got his due. North bounced around this music industry for a few years now and I’ve always been impressed with his quick-witted, albeit biting lyrical ability.

I’m most familiar with North from his L.A.-based musical outfit Hail the Size. Then, North and his compatriot Charles Ezell were known to put on one of the best (and most fun) live shows. It was a spectacle, something to behold. Their one album is still in regular rotation in my house.

Now, North has decamped to Nashville and is on the eve of releasing his first solo album ‘Above Ground Fools’ release date Feb. 21, 2017. As a preview North, releases a timely video and single lamenting a loss of news that is, in fact, newsworthy in light of our never-ending election season. The single is available October 11 on iTunes and

“I wrote the song when coverage for the election single-handedly began giving Donald Trump the nomination plus billions of free ad dollars,” said Matt North. “The media’s proven the song’s point on a daily basis, but Trump wasn’t worth mentioning. The lyrics only call out CNN and how the issue dates back to the launch of 24-hour news. If anything’s damaged getting decent candidates to run or have their voices heard above media-whores like Trump or Cruz, I blame top brass at every network. Like the O.J. trial, this election coverage bastardized the process.”

Watch for my interview with North and review of ‘Above Ground Fools’ in the February. issue of Innocent Words Magazine.
