Truth be told, this is a horribly recorded live concert. It sounds like a bootleg of an A.M. radio broadcast; all high end with very little bass.
What the album represents warrants some attention for it captures Diamond Dave on his first solo tour supporting his first solo album after leaving Van Halen. The stellar line-up of Roth, Steve Vai (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass) and Gregg Bissonette (drums) is in full force as they tear through eight of the 10 tracks from “Eat ’Em & Smile,” as well as a few choice Van Halen covers.
Recording quality aside, the performances are noteworthy and underscore that fact that Dave is one of the greatest rock showmen to grace a stage. And, as backed by a killer band, was a force to be reckoned with.
