NYC folk rock trio The End Of America are excited to announce they have been personally selected by Beck to appear at his exhibition in Los Angeles to perform songs from his recently released Song Reader sheet music album. Before the widespread availability of personal music players — we’re talking cylinder records, not iPods — people discovered new music by buying and performing from sheet music. Beck took things old school with the release of his newest album exclusively on sheet music via publisher McSweeney’s instead of on CD and vinyl.
The End of America interpreted and performed a number of songs at the Song Reader New York City premiere, which they posted on YouTube. The endeavor grew teeth when Beck saw the videos and invited the band to LA to perform at the private debut of the Beck Song Reader Exhibition at Sonos Studio on February 21st. The public exhibition opens on February 22nd and will include artwork, recorded fan performances and instruments for guests to perform their own versions of Beck’s Song Reader tunes.
Please enjoy and post The End of America’s take on “Please Leave a Light On When You Go” that Beck himself selected.
The End of America have a new album, Shakey, and tour beginning on February 27 leading up to SXSW. Stay tuned for tour dates or visit theendofamericamusic.com.
